The breed does not need much grooming. Its coat should be brushed regularly to get rid of dead hairs. Provide the dog with a soft cover to lie on. Lying on a hard surface can lead to leg joints injuries. Puppies should not walk on slippery surfaces. It increases the incidence of breaking a leg. Fila Brasileiros often experience joint problems due to their large weight. As for diet, Fila Brasileiro puppies should be fed on foods rich in calcium. They grow very fast and they need vitamins and minerals for good bone formation. It is important not to overfeed the dog. Filas can suffer from bloat. This condition often occurs if a dog is exercised after a meal. Fila Brasileiro dog should always have access to fresh water to avoid this serious disease.
